After working so hard to get my domain registered here and my hosting package paid up for 2 years (quite expensive) I was told last night that transferring of .org domains from 1 registrar to another is impossible.

If this is true then why does register.com's domain name restrictions list .org as one of the PERMITTED types of domain names to be transferred to register.com as a registrar

I didn't want to publically mention this, except I was not told I couldn't transfer my domain before they took my money, and they claim I cant now. I am not going to lose an email address over this.

Sorry for this misunderstandings.
We can't transfer .org domains so that we do with .com and .net domains.
This transfer type requires us to enter the current authorization key for each domain. No further verification (such as fax or auto verification) is required for these domains. Authorization keys are obtained from the current registrar.
So obtain your domain authorization keys and provide us with it
