Purpose: Give access to cPanel (including webmail and WHM) at port 80 by
acting like a proxy. (For people behind strict firewalls)
This can be installed by server owner, reseller or end-users.
Installation instructions:
1. Download proxy script from
http://myplace.dk/php/cpanelproxy/cpanelproxy.php2. Create subdomain "cpanel.yourdomain.com" or/and "webmail.yourdomain.com"
3. Put this script in that subdomain directory
(probably "public_html/cpanel" in FTP)
4. Create a file called ".htaccess"
5. Put this in the file:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/cpanelproxy.php
RewriteRule .* /cpanelproxy.php [last]
6. Upload it to the same directory as this script
7. (optionally). Repeat with "webmail" in stead of "cpanel" in subdomain and directory.
Known bugs:
- no https
- cPanel will say that you are logging in from "localhost". This might be
considered a security problem by some people.
- some symbols are replaced in webmail.

After following the directions, it seems to have had no effect. Am I missing additional steps?

Ping doesn't reply anything from my subdomains.
Also, will I have to access it through
http://cpanel.doc-squared.comor
http://www.doc-squared.com/cpanel??

I've added DNs entry for this subdomain and it must be working now or in a couple of hours after DNS propagation

Thanks, both of them ping fine now, and cpanel seems to work properly.
However, using webmail.doc-squared.com
just brings up the text of the cpanelproxy.php file.
Can you help with this last problem?
Brett.

Unfortunately, I botched things using FrontPage.
Cpanel still works but webmail.doc-squared.com just gives a page not found error. Pinging webmail.doc-squared.com still works.

Is it ok now?

Almost. Now I get the text of the script instead of the actual login page.

I do hate to spend your time more than once on a single issue, but . . .
Now I get the can't display page error at webmail.doc-squared.com.
And once you fix it, do you recommend that I lock the folder?
More appreciative than I'm saying,
Brett.

Fixed, server was just rebooting.
You can't (and don't need) to lock it 'cause it is just an alias.

Looks like a DNS problem. It's working for me.
It should work on your computer in a few hours.

If you're behind a firewall or nat, and can not open ports.
You can simply configure an external proxy in your browser.
You'll be able to find a non exhaustive list of public proxies at :

Just don't forget that proxy should be on port 80.

Hi,
I've tried to follow these steps to setup webmail on port 80.
I added a subdomain (webmail.noclue.net) 2 days ago, but pinging or trying to go to the domain fails immediately.
I just added the subdomain and put the files in the public_html/webmail directory, I didnt setup forwarding on that subdomain or anything, is that correct?
main domain name is forgottenhorde.net, would appreciate it if you could check it out.
Thanks
Edit : Its been a good few days now, plenty of time for DNS to update... any ideas on why webmail.noclue.net wont resolve at all?
