We are going to recompile apache and php on our servers this Sunday in order to upgrade them to the latest version and provide you with fastest and more stable service.
So web service downtime which will last not more than 20-40 mins is possible .
Technical details:
We are not going to make any serious changes in php configuration, but we'll change php interface from CGI to FastCGI which will improve performance of php applications. The only problem is that PHP does not work via temporary links (like http://Ser.ver.IP/~username/some-script.php ) due to FASTCGI. But if you want to use them , please add the following directive to your .htaccess file:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php # for PHP5
or
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php4 .php # for PHP4
Attention for those who use FASTCGI in their own apllications (like Ruby On Rails) !!!
mod_fastcgi will be changed to mod_fcgid.You can find some documentation concerning this issue here: http://fastcgi.coremail.cn/doc.htm
