Can someone help me with this?
Here's the email I get every day:
/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:
error: /etc/logrotate.conf:2 lines must begin with a keyword or a filename (possibly in double quotes)
error: /etc/logrotate.conf:3 lines must begin with a keyword or a filename (possibly in double quotes)
error: /etc/logrotate.conf:4 unexpected text
error: /etc/logrotate.conf:5 unexpected text
error: /etc/logrotate.conf:prerotate or postrotate without endscript
Here's my logrotate.conf file:
# see "man logrotate" for details
/var/log/messages {
weekly
rotate 5
postrotate
/sbin/killall -HUP syslogd
endscript
}
# rotate log files weekly
weekly
# keep 4 weeks worth of backlogs
rotate 4
# create new (empty) log files after rotating old ones
create
# uncomment this if you want your log files compressed
#compress
# RPM packages drop log rotation information into this directory
include /etc/logrotate.d
# no packages own wtmp -- we'll rotate them here
/var/log/wtmp {
monthly
create 0664 root utmp
rotate 1
endscript
}
## system-specific logs may be also be configured here.
/var/log/chkservd.log {
weekly
rotate 1
endscript
}

Dima,
Thanks for saying something! I was beginning to think the entire Forum was abandoned!
I am not looking for someone to investigate my logs and fix anything.
I am looking for suggestions from anyone what might be wrong with my script.
Thanks.

Well, I DO have to conclude this forum really IS abandoned.
Nobody is talking.
Makes me lonesome.
Poor, poor me!

Then why does every section of this Forum seem to be inactive? This used to be a very "chatty" place. Don't get me wrong ... I'm not looking for social engagement, just to chat. I always look to this forum (and others) for ANSWERS.
There's NOTHING here anymore.
Shame.
As you can see, I've been around here for quite a few years ...

Yeah, it's a shame that the forums have calmed down this much. I'm not one to point blame, but if I had to, it would be on the two following things:
1) The forums are now closed to people without accounts
2) People can't register accounts themselves last I checked
3) Forum pruning keeps removing articles we like to use for reference
:smile: I state this constructive criticism in the hopes that the forum admins can change this.

I split this topic moving the messages about forum-revival to the moderators only forum, sorry jchrastina about having taken your post for forum rules talking.
