I received mail (NOT EMAIL) from them requesting $35 to list my site in search engines Who are they and how did they get my sitename, address, etc?

They can legally find out all of the information on a domain name owner.

I'm not interested in their information - I want to know how they got my information

It's time to end this small talk.

1) You filled out an online survey or form (magazine subscription, etc.) and they sold your information to these guys
2) They have a bot that found your information on the website
3) They manually looked up your business name that the site displayed (if you're registered with the city/county/state to do business)


Okay - it's been fun. The point is that HOSTONY didn't give it away or sell it.

Haven't done any of those

Ah well.

Was just curious if any one else had this problem (maybe they're a leak somewhere ).
