A major power outage simultaneously struck dozens of cities in the United States and Canada late Thursday afternoon. Cities affected include New York; Cleveland, Ohio; Detroit, Michigan; Toronto and Ottawa, Canada. The power outage occurred shortly after 4 p.m.

Server 65.125.225.170 is only affected. It is located in Hauppauge, NY. It is inaccessible now and we can't contact anybody from datacenter. We don't know when the server will be backed online though by 6 p.m. the power was being restored in parts of the affected area.

As we were planning to transfer this server to another NOC we have recently (1-3 days ago) copied all accounts from server 65.125.225.170 on another server. Ip address of the new server is 66.98.144.44. To connect your cpanel control panel go through https://66.98.144.44:2083.
Resellers privileges are not set up by default on the new server so to enable WHM (if you are reseller) you need to contact us through email, helpdesk or ICQ/AIM.

Also name server ns9.hostony.com and customers' name servers linked to that host are inaccessible too. To quick transfer your domain to the new server change the domain name servers with your domain registrar:
ns16.hostony.com
ns15.hostony.net

We are sorry for the caused inconveniences. Thanks all for the patience.

Customers having their domains in ns8.hostony.net and ns9.hostony.com may do requests on support to change ip address for their domains. It will precipitate dns zone transfer to the new server.

The server has been powered on.
All services are working perfectly.

After powerdown the datacenter goes seasaw. Network 65.125.224.0 - 65.125.239.255 is completely down now. We are fixing it now with NOC guys at present.

Many customers have already transferred their sites to the new server (see the posts above) and not affected by downtime. We are calling on all our customers hosted on server 65.125.225.170 to transfer their sites to the new server as we can't promise that the server will be stable in the next days.

For those who may be confused by what is going on, here is my take on it.

Hostony has transferred (made an image) of everyone's stuff that is/was on server "65.125.224.0 - 65.125.239.255" to a new server, "66.98.144.44" because the previous server has become unstable.

What this means is that if you were on those servers (if you don't know ask hostony) you should either make the new DNS entries with the company that handles your domain name(s) registration, or ask hostony to make the entries. For example, if your previous entries were:

ns9.hostony.com
ns8.hostony.net

you should change them to:

ns16.hostony.com
ns15.hostony.net

.... hopefully you will have done this before the current server has a meltdown blink.gif

I've taken a look at my stuff at the new server, and other than my SSH access, everything seems to be in order (mySQL, CpanelX, files, etc...)

Good Luck!
Tim
