Full Version: Core File Spamming
Hostony Board > General Support > General Support

Something weird happened today. While using the FTP of my site, I refreshed find every folder spammed with core.### (extension is some random number) files.

Every few minutes another one appears. I've deleted them so far I think. It seems to be appearing on their own - and they take up TONS of space ohmy.gif

What happened?

Well it's obvious you were hacked.

1) Change your FTP password
2) If applicable, change your root password
3) Change your main account password for that site control panel

Please make it clear to us what extension was put on them, as the forum has censored the extension. Try something like this

.

or . p h p

Good luck. unsure.gif

The extensions were random numbers.

But I think I've gotten it cleared up with Hostony. Turns out the server had some problems. Very glad I didn't get hacked biggrin.gif
