I just registered a name outside of Hostony. I want the index of that URL to lead to my Hostony server. I have plenty of space left for the new site. However, I want all of the pages on the site to be under the foreign domain.

http://cpostudios.com is my Hostony site.

http://motionpodcast.com is my seperate domain that I just registered.

You can point the domain to our server by setuping our DNS.

If you're running a shared account, add this new domain as an add-on domain name and point to:
dns.hostony.com
dns.hostony.com

^ If you're running linux

I went to their site and under my domain name I typed in dns.hostony.com under domain name setup. It says it takes 24 hours to take effect from the time I am posting this. I'll tell you what happens tomorrow.

But in my cpanel, what exactly do I do to set this up?

I went to addon domains and there are 3 fields:

New domain name:

Username/directory/subdomain Name:

Password:

Then some redirection boxes at the bottom.

Just to see what happened I added one and it just added something like: name.cpostudios.com How will this link to my new site when I didn't give any passwords or anything? I don't get how this works.

Basically, what's going to happen is cPanel will create an almost independant hosting account for this new domain name of yours.

So I have "example.com" and I'm making "example2.com" my addon.

If I put "example2.com" into my browser, it will pull it up and work mostly independant from our first domain/account, "example.com".

I will make an addon domain for my account and show you. Give me 1 hour.

Ok. So now I've done it.

I own phirefast.net. I have made "calmacc.com" an addon domain of phirefast.net.

Now I will upload whatever files I want to appear at calmacc.com, to "calmacc.phirefast.net," with the following login information:

FTP Site: phirefast.net
FTP User: calmacc@phirefast.net
FTP Password: woops - can't tell you that one! laugh.gif

http://phirefast.net
http://calmacc.com
http://calmacc.phirefast.net

You see now? biggrin.gif
