It all started Sunday night. All of my sites went down (seven of them). Finally on Tuesday, some of them came back up. The only excuse I got was that they changed my servers to a more powerful one. Two of my websites are still screwy (missing pictures, big red x's where pics should be, etc.) I lost over 100 emails in two days. Now most of my sites seem sort of fixed, but when I save a new html page, it won't display on the internet. It says it is there on my file mangaer, but it gove me the "page not found error". I've had to refund half of my clients. I am so disappointed in HOSTONY! I still need help and have been "live help chatting" for three days.

PLEASE HELP ME HOSTONY!

I hope you filled out a Trouble Ticket on Sunday, if not, you should do it ASAP and tell them about the problems:

I have filled out three tickets now - they respond saying things will be fixed ASAP, but little to nothing happens. Thanks for your reply. At least someone else has been there...

The support staff does all his impossible to help you. They have a lot to do with the server transfer. They are working with every ticket you post. They work hard and care about every customer. You all know that some time is required in solving problems. The staff is not sitting doing nothing but works individually with every request. They do need your patince and understanding. Every promlem will be solved- 'cause they do care.

I have received many "posts" to my tickets and problems. I suppose they do care about fixing my issues. But do they care I have had to refund $2,000 to clients because of erros and downtime? I never had one problem with the old servers. Not one. I never asked for a transer. I have lost 2 full days of production dealing with all these issues that are 4 days old and still dealing with them today. Most of my problems are only half-fixed. Not one singel problem has been fully fixed yet.

are you sure you are not uploading the new html files to the old server? maybe having your ftp program or bookmarks to cpanel using the ip of the old server instead of the new one or your domain name (and use domain name only if you have already changed the nameservers to point to the new server, and all these changes are propagated.)?

P.S. $2,000 on refunds ? Instead of this you can get a travel to ukraine and talk with the staff personally wink.gif tongue.gif

I need a trip to Ukraine after this!! WOW! You've made a valid point! How would I know if my C-Panel is saving files to the old server? I login into the Helm C-Panel like I have always done to make changes. Is that somethign HOSTONY can notify me of? Thank you so much!

ohhh, Helm, is a windows server, sorry I was thinking in the cPanel of linux.

Well, how do you access to helm, with an IP number, or with a domain ? If you access with your domain name, so you surely will see the same on helm as on http or ftp.

you need to be consistent, if you use the domain to see your website, so use your domain too to access helm (http://yourdomain.com:8086), and use your domain too when connecting with FTP.

But if you check your website over the web with your domain i.e. http://yourdomain.com/, and you access to helm and ftp with an IP number (ie http://xx.xx.xx.xx:8086/), and you can't see trought web the files you updated with ftp, so you are using a old IP. try uploading using your domain name on the FTP program config, or give me more details (domain name for example) and I will check to which server is currently pointed this domain name smile.gif

They sent me a link: http://67.15.225.14:8086/ - so I just go there and type in my user and pw and everythign is insude of there. Maybe they need to send me a new link or transfer my info to a new C-Panel?

My main domain name is www.k-squareddesigns.com - I have 6 others I have with hostony... Am I helping or hendering?
MartinB
your domain is pointing to the server with ip 208.116.16.3

QUOTE
Domain Type Class TTL Answer

k-squareddesigns.com. A IN 14400 208.116.16.3

so, wich is the ip of the new server, 208.116.16.3 or 67.15.225.14 ? You need to know this, to discover what is wrong, if the ip of the link to helm you are using, or the ip where your domain is pointed.

what about going to http://208.116.16.3:8086/ ?

they provide you with this ip after the transfer to the new server?

So, surely, your domain name is already working on the old server (dns issue).

you can go to http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/lookup.ch?name=yourdomain.com&type=A

and check if the A record for your domain have the same ip as the link to hem provided, for example:

yourdomain.com. A IN 14400 67.15.225.14

if it have another IP, that is the problem. Ask hostony about how to change the dns for your domain to point it to the account on the new server.

Do you get my point? smile.gif

I think I understand. I'll contact them again right away! You've been a great help (now let's hope they are)! smile.gif

Well my updating issues have been resolved. Things are finally lokoing up a bit, but going into day 5, my damn email is down again. Wonderful, just wonderful... funny things is, there are 2 more accounts on there that were not there before and I cannot click and view them - it is like they are hidden.

but you are now surely more closer of success smile.gif
detail all the remaining problems in detail to support team trought tickets (I recommend you to divide your tickets on the biggest issues, not posting a big 10 pages ticket with a list of 20 problems on it because it will be very difficult to trace the resolution of every item)

Good luck ! let me know if I can help you on something else smile.gif

Its been 3 days for me now that my e-mail and all my domains are down.

My old web host gave proper notification of server changes....and there was never more then an hour downtime .
The support here is horrible. No information. No resolution. I am happy to hear that I am not the only one with the problem. I was beginning to take it personally.
