Full Version: Basic - Frontpage Extensions: Installing & Un-installing

Frontpage extensions are necessary to run, if you're using Microsoft Frontpage to build and upload pages to your server.

If you're using Dreamweaver, any other WYSIWYG Editor, or typing HTML right into Notepad and uploading, you don't need to be running Frontpage extensions. Think of removing them as a way of cleaning-up your account a little bit.

Login to cPanel > Frontpage Extensions (3rd/4th row down) > SEE BELOW

Either:
1) Un-install them by clicking "un-install"
or
2) Click "Cleanup Old Extensions"

Perhaps one of a thousand people will find this useful, but it's one way of getting the forum active again. blink.gif

Hello Mark! thank you for your howto.

I just want to add a red note:

Be carefull when uninstalling Frontpage extensions because installing or uninstalling FrontPage Extensions will result in the loss of all .htaccess files in your web area. Any directories you have protected with WebProtect will become unprotected until you reprotect them.

just my 2 cents wink.gif

Yes! That is true. They should have an option to not delete, but just remove the frontpage stuff from the files.
