mad.gif What the heck is it today, folks? I can't do ANYTHING on my "new" server, 69.72.157.71. Web site didn't work at all earlier, now gives a 403 Forbidden error. Can't get to CPanel, can't get to my files through SCP, etc.etc. Worst yet, I filed ticket 29856 almost an hour and a half ago and still have not received ANY response.

I dread each and every morning these days, since it seems that so many of them start with "I have to get my Internet hosting service to get my Internet site working for me and my users...AGAIN"!!

Since being moved to a "new" "better" server at the end of April, I have been fighting with Hostony. I too now dread every morning because the new server is again DOWN or again OVERLOADED.
I am on server at IP 65.98.8.5
I have re-opened (AGAIN) a month old ticket.
I have had four phone calls this morning from MY clients.
My life has become HELL.
I have asked Hostony to move me back to my old server. And I do that with some trepidation, since they screw it up every time, losing things.
I AM ANGRY!

Hmmm.... I'm on neither of those two servers and my site is down too, as of just a few minutes ago in fact. The odd thing is that cPanel is acting as if it doesn't recognize me and it says I've only used 10mb of space which is way off. I just put in a support ticket a couple of minutes ago. Hopefully it's just a power outage thing or something....? unsure.gif

my site is down too and my mail accounts are gone from cPanel WTF!!!

ALL Addon domains are GONE.
ALL domain content is GONE.
ALL email accounts are GONE.

WTF, indeed.

All of my SPAMASSASSIN settings are also GONE!

The next thing we'll hear from Hostony is that they have no backups, and "sorry for the inconveniences"
This day is turning into an ABSOLUTE DISASTER!

Would SOMEBDOY from Hostony please SAY SOMETHING HERE???

Well, actually, I have backups of nearly everything on my site, but I will lose some weblog entries (not that they matter much). I have a huge gallery that would be a tremendous pain to reupload, but I could do it. I'm just crossing my fingers that won't be necessary.

I saw in the server status thing a bunch of "failed" things and I've been watching them slowly go back to green. They're obviously working on it. I wonder what happened?

mad.gif My CPanel won't let me log into any accounts at all...keeps rejecting any of the username/password combinations. At least the web site is up, but I'm not currently certain of mail or email lists. SCP probably still won't let me log in either, but I'm just not going to bother with adding to the endless stream of support tickets right now. I'm both glad and sad that I'm not the only one around here going through this. I just need to get off my duff and haul my stuff to some other place. Gonna go VPS.

cPanel only shows drive "sda2". Where are the rest of the drives??
In my trouble ticket, I was told the yreboote dthe server and "sorr fo rte hinconveniences"
Then I was told FSCK is running, and "try again later, sorry for the inconveniences."

I have been down for at least four hours now.

I just had one of MY clients call to tell me, if I don't get my act together by the end of the end of next week, I'm finished. I am struggling to keep them happy and have been negotiatiing some terms of satisfactory performance and reliability to the end of June. I will do WHATEVER I need to in order to get satisfactory performance. If that means dumping Hostony after three years, SO BE IT!

adding insult to injury they are bouncing mail to my domain as well, they cant even queue it while they work stuff out

we really need multi-level MX records if the servers will be this flaky

I got pretty much the same responce to my ticket..

I asked for an estimate of how long fsck will take to complete, and was told about an hour (from about the time I make this post).

I have had same issues on the past on linux servers, disk just crash or server reboot for some reason and then fsck run. It's not possible to know exactly how long can it be, can be some minutes or various hours.

When the fsck finished I seen again all my info on cpanel, accounts, domains, emails, etc.

yeah! is a good practice to have backup mx records, if the email service is important for you.

I think I pay $12.95 / year for 1 domain, and they provide me with 3 levels of backup mx records.

Back to normal for me, also.
However, I am not at all happy.
I have been with Hostony for more than three years, through rough times and smooth. Hostony has still not comprehended the value of COMMUNICATIONS. Their total absence and silence through this entire episode is appalling.
I have been involved in technical and tech support projects for the past 33 years and have learned that COMMUNICATIONS can save a bad situation almost every time.

They must have been flying around like mad to fix everything, but I got three replies to my ticket anyway.
