If my isp is blocking port 25 (as is all too common). Mine atleast seems to leave port 587 open since that is the default SMTP port for smtp.aol.com and I can still hit that one. Can I switch my shared account over to use port 587 instead of 25? Or both?

I think support can make it for you, but have you contacted your isp asking for the unblock of the port 25 ?
I have contacted mine, and they enable the port 25 to external smtp servers for me.

Hello,
you should use the port 25 for your mail. if it's blocked, plaese ask your ISP to unblock it.
We can also allow the port 26 for mail.
