how long does it usually take for my DNS records to be updated? I know the email said up to 72 hours, but how long does ittake, on average?
MartinB
15 to 35 hours.... SOME times, > 24.

weird TLDs some times take a few days more.
theguy71730
whew, thanks! 15-35 hours is a BIG improvement on 72 lol
MartinB
Yes, but this don't depend of the hosting company, it depend of your registrar, the propagation time over the net, your isp, and a lot of things, so, everybody say 72hs or more, because if they say you 20-40 hours, you will complain if it take 72hours wink.gif

The company where you have registered your domain.

I thought hostony could act as a registrar. I never saw anything saying I needed a seperate one.
MartinB
yes hostony can act as a registrar too, their offer domains. and they offer a free domain .com in some hosting packages, you need to check their offer.

what i want to say in the other post is, you are not forced to transfer your existing domain to hostony, if you already have one. You can get domains from hostony, or from the company you want, this does'nt meant that you can't host your site here.
