I am running Moodle installation on my VPS server. It has been plagued by slow speed. Anyone running scripts that speed up PHP applications? I saw some instructions here for eaccelerator, but am not familiar with that product.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Is PHP eAccelerator ("http://eaccelerator.net/") installed on Hostony's linux servers ?

i think its installed on hostony servers.but you have to edit php.ini to configure it. turck Mmcache is better chioce.

some people are using APC http://pecl.php.net/package/APC (Alternative PHP Cache) to improve speed of php software

Research a little about compatibility with Zend Optimizer too.
