Iceshifter
Hi everyone, I'm very new to the community. I just recently activated my account and hope to have a successful and meaningful website. I've been bouncing around different host lately, all of which have closed/shutdown/sold their companies and generally have had a bad experience and establishing a site hasn't been able to happen.

However, now that I have a hostony account, it looks like I've found a reliable place with a smart staff. (of which I have bugged continually till my domain had started to show up on the WHOIS info haha! sorry support team)

Anyways, my domain is held at http://www.lost-faith.com/
Expect changes and updates all the time!

Iceshifter, I believe I have met you in our AIM messenger already.

Please do not read if you do not like nuetral commentary iceshifter.

Summary:
Hostony, a reliable host in my words, very high in space, bandwidth and necessary requirements for huge sites.
Probably the best host i've seen ever.
Well, that's probably because I do not have a credit card and I am using PayPal to transfer money.

Besides space, bandwidth and the nitty gritty glittery stuff, there is also customer service, which to me, isn't the best at times.
Here and there, it will be good, but not everytime, which makes first impressions poor.

However, your impression shouldn't run from me, but, from your own experience.
I have been here for at least a year, I believe.
Hostony to me, has had its ups and downs, most recently and a bit before, up.
Downs were back then and my site was down more than it was up and I had major complaints. But I think Hostony has resolved that issue, as my site is up more than being down.

Great host, could improve on their moods, but, its great over-all.

Cons: (because pros always seem to be first)
Customer service isn't really there, its more of a run-around.
Go to one place, and you are going everywhere instead of one place, kind of like a Merry Go Round, you are just going in circles to find the right way.

Some server issues are never mentioned, more hidden to create better assortment for Hostony, which is always hidden in every company more or less.

Downtime happens without word if it is around five minutes, which should be notified on every-downtime.

Certain servers are down more than others, meaning, its like playing favorites, only, in a random way, which Hostony gives a "we are sorry for the inconvenience we have caused" excuse which never helps, only makes users/customers frustrated and does not get to the point at all.

Most support tickets are never accepted, it seems to be a fad to ignore certain customers and these customers make a topic in the forum, which is magically instantly "oh im so sorry!" and it gets resolved, reason why I go into the forum a lot more than support tickets.

You have to give them your rating if you ever want your account cancelled, which is pretty stupid if you ask me..its like forcing a religion down your throat.

That's about as much as I can remember for the downside.

Pros:
Excellent hosting space and bandwidth, no other host goes closer.
I have seen a lot of other hosts with less payment than I pay with more space and bandwidth, which I have considered going to, but, always make sure you look into their services before buying, you could regret it or not.

Forum gets more answers than support tickets ironically enough and is a nice place to get a lot of information.

Customers are always more friendly than anyone else, unless they are frustrated with a service and complain, watch out for them.
Employers or Hostony staff are there for you, not all the time, but a lot faster than support tickets.

Hosting is really good, haven't had the best experience the first few months, a wild ride it was, but the drive later on now, is going good currently.
But their hosting is really nice, I complained once but found it great after a while.

Plans are evened out and assorted out nicely, I was able to find what I wanted in seconds.

Overall, it is up to you to look into Hostony, as I am just giving you my own experience.
I hope you stick to whatever it is you want to do, because there will be bad and good times here.

Good luck customer tongue.gif
Lehrer
Dark Hedgehog, I hope you'll allow me to make some additional remarks as to what you have already put on file.

Forum gets more answers than support tickets ironically enough and is a nice place to get a lot of information.

--->>> I absolutely disagree with you. Support tickets have always been of the highest priority for the support staff.

Downs were back then and my site was down more than it was up and I had major complaints

Yes, I remember your site was suspended for quite a period of time last year, there was a sad story with your not having the money to pay at the moment.

Certain servers are down more than others, meaning, its like playing favorites, only, in a random way, which Hostony gives a "we are sorry for the inconvenience we have caused" excuse which never helps, only makes users/customers frustrated and does not get to the point at all.
You know, most problems with the servers are caused by users themselves, meaning that there are different users. One user sends out a 10 000 bunch of e-mails(not always just for fun) while another one is having problems with mysql on the server at the moment or is complaining about an extremely high load average on the server.

And as to most of your other remarks, well, I found them resonable enough. Thank you for your trust.
Dark Hedgehog
*Shrug* I don't mind what you say, as long as its not against me.
And the idea of everyone using it for fun or whatever the case is, I had no idea, so its a misunderstanding in my part.

Just don't make me look like I am guilty.
As my past issues, none of them should be addressed, more you should just say that there were times when it went bad, some my fault.

Just don't point out that I am the faulty one here, because I have not said anything non-constructive.

And about the support tickets, I usually see questions being answered in the forum, as I have no access to see what other users make requests to in the support tickets.
Again, a misunderstanding.

Please learn to strategize your words.
Lehrer
Didn't want to make you guilty anyways. Though what I have said is absolutely correct.
And I am not going to compete in strategy with you. smile.gif
Dark Hedgehog
I agree with you, what you said is correct, every word of it.

But, the thing that it was, as if you were somehow trying to make me look 100% guilty, as if to address one issue to make me look as if I am in so much wrong.

But really, I don't mind at all, its just you should strategize more, and i'm not up for competition, I just dislike it when people use it poorly to make someone look like something else they are not.

Anyways, that should clear things, I just wanted things to be smooth on both ends.

I think all the comments, from DarkH and the remarks from Lehrer, describe very well the company.

I also desagree with the forum priority comments, I have done a high intensive use of support tickets this year, and it's very very fast.

The problem of most users is the billing dept, the thing is they work busines hours only, not 24*7, most users don't know that.

I suppose, in my personal experience, than the billing dept don't give more attention to the tickets system ?, i get best answers if i send a mail to them (Or..the best, put a ticket and ask a support guy, he will notice the billing people, and all go fine.)

My recommendations is:

You have time, and want community opinions ?
Use the forum, here exist a lot of guys who have experience and good ideas.

You need a fast support answer ?
Use support tickets.

You have a BIG BIG PROBLEM, I NEED SUPPORT NOOOOW!!!!
Put a ticket, and make contact with Need4Support with AIM.

You need talk with billing dept?
put a ticket to billing dept.... but.... send a mail too telling the ticket id smile.gif
and wait for 24hours, don't send a lot of mails and tickets, be patient.

You need FAST billing dept response ?
You feel than Billing dept is *ignoring* your issue ?

Put a ticket to billing dept, and tell support to notice to the billing dept.
(and wait 24 hours wink.gif)

I arrive hostony a year later, Now, hostony is the base of my businnes, and i'm having success, so, I'm planning to stay with hostony all the life of my bussines. (If your servers work!!! don't relax!!! wink.gif)

The support team is awesome and very cooperative, some more who others, but you will know all them, every guy have something special, some is very technical, somebody hate complaints ( biggrin.gif ), some body are a little rude, but all them are very proffesionals and will give you a solution to your problems, you just need a little patience and understand than there is PEOPLE, not machines.

Also, they can understad all the languages, until my "english" !! laugh.gif

- a very happy customer.
Lehrer
[/I] You know, most problems with the servers are caused by users themselves

I didn't mean you, DarkH, that was just an example. Some people are humble and observe AUP rules, but some... let's not talk about it further, I believe you understand now. And I never had the slightest hint of a bad impression about you -on the contrary smile.gif .
What I find important is the contact between user/customer and staff members. Friendliness and patience plays the key role in the relations between people (As also Martin says biggrin.gif )
