Hello:

Somebody know if/how can I setup HotLink Protection for my site, but allowing to the world hotlinking from an specific directory ?

(I have some banners and avatars in http://domain.com/art/, how can i enable hotlink protection from cpanel for all the site, but allowing the hotlinking to images in this directory ?)

Thank you in advance for some info smile.gif

Martin, you can do it in your cpanel(HOTLINK PROTECTION). First, point the URL, as you mentioned: http://domain.com/art/

Then at the bottom of the page you'll see "Extensions to allow (seperate by commas)"
put in here all file extentions you need access to. That's all. smile.gif

Thank you Lehrer !
I have understanded this like it was the urls of domains who can hotlink the images of my sites, not the urls of directories with images "excluded of the protection"
sorry!!
MartinB
aha! i have not understanded it so bad, these list are the valid referers, not the urls with images allowed for hotlinking.

When i activate the hotlink protection, the images stop loading in all my other sites who link to images at whatever directory in my domain (like the avatar of the hostony forum, for example.)

I have disabled it again... maybe does not exist a way for this huh.gif

not a critical issue.

Martin, give it a try again:

http://domain.com/art/
http://www.domain.com/art/

And the extentions below.

I know now what is the misunderstanding, is my fault.

I have use http://domain.com/wh_art/ like it was an external site, but is just an example.

A reality snapshot:

I want activate the HotLink Protection in http://www.wizhosting.com/
(So, nobody can hotlink my images in their sites, right?)

B U T !!
I want a directory, http://www.wizhosting.com/wh_art/, when i can put public-free-for-hotlink images (my banners, ads, logo, etc).

So, when x.com hotlink an image of my site, the hotlink protection will prevent this.
But if x.com hotlink some image stored in the directory ~/public_html/wh_art/ from my wizhosting account, like http://www.wizhosting.com/wh_art/banner.gif, or the avatar for the forums, etc..... it's all okay!

I hope it's more clear now, sorry for spent your time.
Somebody have some ideas for me? smile.gif

Did you try putting a .htaccess in the folder that you want to allow, and set it to allow everthing * ?

Just a thought, I dont have time to test it now, gotta go to work, but I'll give it a shot when I get home.
