what is the default name and location for the apache error log?

I can't see to see any obvious log file within my directory

you can download them from your cpanel:
ftp manager/ ftp accounts/You can download your raw access logs at the following URLs using the login mediagro_logs and your account password:
your ftp accounts.

dingfelder, is the problem resolved or you still face it? Please expand on it.

I was getting errors on all my sites and was trying to debug what was going on, but the errors stopped me from accessing cpanel as well, so I was looking for the physical log file location as I could access the server via ssh...

The issues were all php related so I think they are mostly resolved
