what config settings should I use to get emails working from my phpbb installation?

I've tried using "sendmail", and I've tried using my domain as the smtp with my pop login info, but still no go.

should the login name be the full email address?

login should be username@domain.com and then password.

yeah, tried that one too...

I submitted a ticket and Alexander Brykulya stated the following:

"Dear Customer,

SMTP server: austink5.net

username: mail@austink5.net
password:

That's all."

but when I did that I get the following error when I try to send the mail from the board...

"Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 550 Sender verify failed"


how's the move going by the way?

I looked at my the old phpbb board, I had nothing listed for smtp servers and no checked where it asks "use smtp server for email"

not sure if this is related but I cannot ping austink5.net I can ping austink5.com tho

you are to substitute "mail" for your existing e-mail address
and also use the password for that mailbox. Do not use the blank password.

I don't understand. the username I used is "mail@austink5.net" but you are saying to substitute "mail" or did you think that I was actually not using "mail@austink5.net" but rather ... ok, now my head hurts.

I added my default account's password but now the error I get is

"Could not connect to smtp host : 111 : Connection refused"

yeah, I tried using the mail function (that's what happens when you select "no" but then no email is sent and I get no error

try to use Php Mail instead of "Sendmail" method.
i think phpbb have these options?

I don't remember it well but i think it have a "Use SMTP for email", try setting it to NO.
