Folks,

I have a question about your virtual dedicated hosting. I hope these questions don't make me look stupid!

The lowest package includes a minimum 128MB of RAM at all times. How much is free after OS, Apache, MySQL, and PHP are loaded and running? Is the Linux instance my own, or is it central to the entire (real) server? What about the other apps I listed above?

In a VPS everything belongs to you.
Theoretically you could install php5,mysql5 and you favorite flavor of
Linux on your VPS without stepping on anyone elses shoes.


As for min ram requirements....
You could get by with 128M if you didnt run CPanel/WHM.
Cpanel/WHM is a real hog. But unless you are a linux expert
and can set up the accounts manually you really need a frontend
for all that.

What kinda of sites you plan on hosting?
One large forum (php/mysql) could bring that config to a crawl on its own...
