Hi,

Why do you still use an old version of PHP, 4.x, while version 5.x has been out for a long time? Do you plan to upgrade any time soon? Are you not concerned with keeping yout software up-to-date?

Thanks
Slavik
Hello.
We are not going to upgrade it in the nearest future.

Best regards,
Slavik Koshelev

You'd be hard pressed to find any host that runs php5 exclusively.

First of all it would break probably everything in fantastico.

As for PHP5 being out a long time
What do you consider a long time....?

from http://www.php.net/ChangeLog-5.php

Version 5.0.0 Beta 1 2 9-Jun-2003
Version 5.0.0 Release Candidate 1 18-Mar-2004
Version 5.0.0 13-Jul-2004
Version 5.0.3 15-Dec-2004

That means to me is been out of beta ...
offical release for less than a year

This is what I find. Can they not have both versions with an ability to specify which one to use for which account?

This seems to be a reply from other providers too. They are afraid that PHP 5 will break existing software and are testing it now.

Perhaps, you are right, and providers are correct in waiting until 5.x becomes more mature. So, maybe for the time being I shouldn't use this a criteria for choosing a provider.

Can a customer install PHP 5.x in his own account and have web server use it instead of a publicly installed version?
