I am using OUTLOOK 2003. Lately, my mails are now from
'xxx@myhost.com; on behalf of; sender@blah.com' ph34r.gif instead of the normal sender name
Does anyone know why? mad.gif

You have a Virus, burn it with fire...

Ok, sorry.

Is this in the header info? or ?? I guess it would help if you either pasted a copy of the headers of an actual email sent.. Do you send through your ISP or using Hostony as your SMTP? Its possible that your ISP's SMTP server is injecting headers in there because your from is not @theirisp.com ... ??

i have also noticed this over the last 2 days. It seems to have started sometime on monday afternoon (well it would be sunday night for most of you since im in sydney). All emails i received on monday morning were normal but any that i have received since then have been in the format of:

CODE
FROM: username@server25.fastbighost.com; on behalf of; Sender [blah@senders.domain]
Stanly
Ok, let me explain.
That is done only when your sender's address do not match with your real sender's address.
E.g. you use mailbox john@domain.com for mail sending but at your mail client you have set up sender's address to mike@anotherdomain.com
In that case our SMTP servert will overwrite mail headers. We have done this to prevent spam attempts.

stanley this is not for mail being sent (as i use my isp's smtp cause they block port 25) its for all incomming mail regardless of where it is sent. I have sent a number of test emails both from different addresses on your servers to the main account email and also from external servers and regardless they all still have their from line changed to that format
melmak
That has been happening to our email also since Friday the 17th. All of the incoming email has xxxx@server14.fastbighost.com; on behalf of; (the persons email address that it was sent from).
This happens to all of the incoming emails whereever they were sent from.

A new line is being injected into the email header:

CODE
Sender:  <username@serverXX.fastbighost.com>

I was just talking to someone on ICQ from Hostony and it is now fixed on our address. They said that it was something that happened after a cpanel upgrade. The server that we are using is server14
