Hi,
I am trying to create a socket connection with a remote computer, assume it's a machine at my house. I can create the socket, but when i want to connect it with a server socket at my house, it gives a message saying that the socket cannot connect! Is it something with the firewall at hostony!
Plus, i can't ping, the ping command is disabled.
I really need help on this one, thanks...

What port you want to connect.
You're right, outgoing ping and traceroute are prohibited from our servers

i think you need follow the problem in a private trouble ticket, "maybe" if you provide the ports, the protocol, and the ip of your home pc, they will let you connect.
