High volume of SMTP/POP3 or FTP traffic? These will not show up in the stats pages... Just a thought?

where do you set the maximum bandwidth? I can't seem to find it on my control panel.

You can't see it from your control panel. Total bandwidth of your account is limited by package bandwidth limit only.
