I noticed the www.hostony.com website was not accessable for about 4-5 hours from 3:30 PM to about 8:00 PM (PST). Is there an explanation for what happened and why the site was down? Were all hosted sites thru www.hostony.com also down for that period of time? Also, what kind of redundancy systems are built into the infastructure for issues just like what occured today?
Thanks for the reply,
Concerned,
Matt

Hello.
We had a problem with kernel on the server 209.51.138.26. Recompilng the kernel didn't help and so we had to upgrade RedHat from 7.1 to 7.3. Cpanel was upgraded to the latest version too.
That was an unusual situation. And we are sorry for inconveniences.
Not all sites were down, just sites at 209.51.138.26 server. You may know that we have 20+ servers.
Unfortuately, our main site is hosted on the same server, that is why it was down too.
Our redundancy system is weekly backups that are copied between our servers. If some server becames completely broken and it is impossible to restore data then we can restore all sites within 1-2 days from the backup.
