Seriously now..
The server didnt go "down"
Some MySQL functions went down for about 2 minutes there...
Apache, php etc was up, and other services were up w/o issue. I was in the process of updating and testing as well during that time, I noticed it down for a few ... Checked my end, hit cpanel, saw the services down, and then it all came back in a min or so...
Now I know that 2 minutes may seem like an eternity... and yes you might turn a new customer in that 2 min span.. my guess is that if you loose a new customer due to a 2 min partial outage, you have a LOT of customers signing up!!! send some my way!
Also consider this... 99% uptime is:
365 days in a year
x 99% uptime (guaranteed)
------------------------
361.35 = uptime guaranteed each year
3.65 = downtime guaranteed each year
Thats 3 days 15 hours 3 minutes 4 seconds(rounded up) of downtime each year you have to accept.
Break it down further into per day and you have 14 minutes 24 seconds EACH day that you will be down (Guaranteed)
So Hostony, you have 12min more for today! heh..
