i have mp3's on my site. someone tried to link to these mp3's (with permission) but he always gets this error message:

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

when i click on that link, i download the mp3 (both left and right-click). becoz i use a download manager, i download instead of start an mp3-player when clicking. ideally (for him) he'd like the mp3 to be played instead of downloaded, although that is not very important.

in other words; his code works for me!

if you click on 'test" it downloads an mp3.

SO HOW COME my external link works and his doesn't?
he thinks it might have sth to do with "deep linking". i have no idea what that means. it can't mean "hotlinking" because my hotlink prevention is turned off, and my own hotlink does work.
he also thinks it might have sth to do with "port setings". again, i have no clue what he means.

so why is he still getting that error message?

RU sure you dont have some hotlink protection on?

a while ago i wanted to enable hotlink prevention but it never worked (previous posts you refer to) , so i abandoned that wish. now i want to help this guy linking to my files. i assure you the hotlink prevention is OFF. besides, how can i link to my files on www.metalminutes.com from another site of mine, yet no one else can?
