I have been with Hostony for less then 3 months. In the three months I had 4 full days of down time, servers moved on me and databases that won't respond 2 or 3 times per day. After the four days of down time I was given a weak excuse of faulty hardware (why it took 4 days to repair I will never know). As soon as they got the servers back up they determined the hardware was still defective and sent me this email.
Dear Customer
As for the moment we got a nice deal from Atlanta Internap datacenter
and started to deploy our new servers there. Our current new platforms
are Dual Xeon 2.4 and Quad Xeon 2.0 Ghz.
We've just moved al accaunts on our server from 67.15.48.21 to
67.15.52.34
Lately the server was very unstable and there is unacceptable to
continue use this server for shared hosting. It is not a software - it's
a
hardware issue. So that there are no possibilities to fix it.
Process was smoothy and you should experience no downtime. We
copied all your files and databases to a new server. If you use ip to
access
to your account you should change it to 67.15.52.34. Servers will both
work
some time to prevent data loss.
Dual Xeon 2.4 ghz
1024 Mb DDR Ram
2 x 78 Gb HDD SCSI
Ip address of new server is: 67.15.52.34
Please change your DNS records to
dns.hostony.com
dns.hostony.org
Before your DNS zone will be fully propagated you can access your
domain via
http://67.15.52.34/~yourusername/
You can log into WHM on the new server via http://67.15.52.34:2086/
and to cpanel via http://67.15.52.34:2082.
Also if you want to have secure connection use:
https://67.15.52.34:2087/ for WHM
and https://67.15.52.34:2083/ for Cpanel.
You can log in any domain control panel with old username and
password. They did not change during the transfer. Also all your mail,
ftp accounts and databases are stored.
You have to point your site to a new server if you have your own DNSs.
You should change ip from
old to a 67.15.52.34. If can't do it manually, we'll help to do it.
Notify us about that and we'll synchronize your data. To prevent any
misunderstandings please inform us by ICQ (122590581) or AIM
(Need4Support).
Both servers will live together during a week. And after that an old
server'll stop working.
You should inform all your clients about this movement.
Sorry for the caused inconveniences.

Best regards,
Alex Brykulya

Ok, so they upgraded my account for the downtime which was really nice but now I have to update all my DNS information (which I have to go to my customers to get). I have been transfering over sites and every once and a while the database just goes dead for a minute or two. This site stops responding then everything goes back to normal. I can't see a problem in my code and I have a mirror running on a different server without a problem. The only thing I can think of is that the Computer is overloaded and can't handel my requests. (Didn't that last server crash because to many users were on it, did anything change?)
I like hostony, they are the cheapest hosting company I could find on the web. I just wish they could provide 99.9% uptime.
