Full Version: Process for Reporting Server Status - Red Lights
Hostony Board > General Support > General Support

This is for the benefit of all Hostony clients....

Recently, I checked my server status in CPanel and I saw 4 red lights

exim - failed - RED
eximstats - failed - RED
Server Load - 21.46 (4 cpus) - RED
Disk sdb1 (/home) - 97% - RED
Domain: COOLNEWMEDIA.COM
http://www.coolnewmedia.com/status.php (my quick status script)

On my end what I was seeing is that CPanel access was slow and sometimes failed.
FTP connected failed once -- then was able to connect 15 min later.
Email performance is a bit suspect however I have to factor in the Shaw.ca network here so can't tell yet.

As for the serving of my web pages, as far as I could tell, things were still working CORRECTLY and the pages snapped into place, so I assumed we're okay on this front.

QUESTION to the GROUP:
How best shall we report warning lights, symptoms, and issues with the hosting servers so that both the HOSTONY support team jump on the issue while at the same time, CLIENTS CAN BE INFORMED so that action can be taken if required. I would perfer to be notified if there is an issue so that I don't get caught with my pants down when showing web pages to my clients.

So far I'm happy with the service and I encourage the company to continue improving client service and support.

Cheers,

Kevin

From what I've seen there's always at least one memebr of the Hostony staff here (at least any time I've ever been here), so posting here would alrert both the staff and the people on the server, provided they come here on a regular basis. It may also be a good idea to open a support ticket or just email support directly to let them know, but this wouldn't inform the clients on the server.

In short, there's no way to do let EVERYONE know, because even posting here won't inform all users since all users don't come to this board... and there's no mailing list.
