This really isn't a presales question..

Yesterday I paid for a plan. Today I got notification I was in.. But, green as I am, I do not understand half of what they were trying to tell me.

I have a new Domain name: troop86-nh.com Yeah..

I have a login & password... But, they do not work anywhere.. I even tried the copy paste method - That is why I am here, I am locked out of communicating in any other forum with out a user name & password & mine do not work.. I also tried the button for "I forgot my password" to see what they would send me. I used the username & my email.. They say my username does not exist!!!

There is something about changing my DNS records (what is that???)

Something about before my DNS zone is fully propagated you can access your domain via Blah.. Blah... I am not sure what that is.. but if I use that will I then be activated?? if so how do I use that ??

I was going to see if my username password would work in the FTP.. But then relized I really didn't know what I should do.. It says again before I am fully functional I can use the server main IP blah..blah.. blah..

Where am I to use that?? Isn't there some sort of Remote website location?? maybe like

ftp://upload.hostony.com (or something..??)

Can anyone point me in the direction of what large piece of the puzzle I am failing to understand?

Piece one. DNS
You can't access troop86-nh.com until the internet knows where that is.

If you registered your own domain then you should goto the place where it is registered
and give them the DNS info that Hostony gave you in your welcome email.

If hostony is registering your domain then skip that step.

usally it takes 24-72hrs for your name to propogate across the net.

In the mean time you can access your site via its IP address thats in your welcome email.

FTP to the IP and start uploading in the public-html folder.
OR goto https://yourip:2083 and check our your control panel !
You can upload through its file manager
plus SO much more !!

Here is a question that may answer my puzzlement.

I have a password for my new web account. I assumed this would get me into support and the forum. They do not work.. & my account I guess really isn't truely set up yet.. So I am feeling that nothing recognizes me.

But, looking at the registration for the forum & the registration for support. They both seem to be different then registration for a web hosting plan & they both seem to not care if I bought a hosting plan or not.

So... Am I suppose to register for both of these seperately, because my web hosting account is not my ticket into these places? Should I register seprately to all these other places.

Sorry for being so green, but I really do not see any clear directional information on this.

yes at least for me hosting, support and forum for now are separate services, you must register your self in both (is a good idea if you register yourself in all services with the same username)

You can visit http://help.hostony.com to know how to use your control panel.
Also if your username/password is not working please go to http://support.hostony.com and submit a ticket about this (don't forget to include you username/password/control panel link to this ticket).
