I have a subdomain (riderx.projectblackops.com) and the main domain is (obviously) projectblackops.com.

I'm trying to word this so I don't sould like a complete idiot, so please bear with me.

I can get ot my subdomain by going to riderx.projectblackops.com
or
www.projectblackops.com/riderx
I cannot get to it by going to: www.riderx.projectblackops.com


This honestly, is ok, i just want an explanation as to why this is. What does the placeholder of the www in the one URL do that makes it inapplicapable to the subdomain?

Question though: is there a difference between:

http://www.projectblackops.com
and
http://projectblackops.com

I'm guessing there has to be (otherwise there would be no reason for the www) - so what is it?
