Hi,
Can you please tell us how to setup procmail?

i have already created a .forward and .procmailrc file in my home directory.
ie. /home/username.

when i tried to send mail, the procmail filters doesnt work at all.

i tried creating a Mail Forwarders from cpanel and things wrk just fine...

i wanted to know what am i missing and also how the Mail Forwarders from cpanel work. does the Mail Forwarders from cpanel use the same .procmailrc or does it have a special file.

also what is valiases folder and how come i dont see one created for my domain.

it would be og great help if anyone could explain me.

Thanks

We have procmail installed as usual binary at system.
If you will create .forward or .procmailrc files they will not work, 'cause our system is not configured not look for them.
Default mail server is Exim. All forwarders, mailboxes, etc are created at its base.
Also valiases directory is a system directory for forwarders at your control panel.
Please do not touch it. smile.gif

Try this. It works for me!
In CPANEL goto forwarders
and set up something like this:

anon@xxxxxxxxx.com |/usr/bin/procmail

That's forward email to (pipe) location of procmail

Hi,

Thank you for the information.

i did try using the cpanel and setup mail fordward to point to |/usr/bin/procmail.
it works just fine, but i have a small problem, it delevers the mail and also send an unable to deliver mail to the source.

ie.
my procmail sends all mails to email1@domain.com to email2@domain.com

if i send a mail from myemail@yahoo.com to email1@domain.com,
procmail sends the mail to email2@domain.com which is what i want,
but it also sends mail to myemail@yahoo.com that the message could not be delevered.

can you please tell me if i am missing something or is it that procmail is returning some message which mail server interprets as error...

anyhelp ???

thanks

You can write own perl or php script that will handle all your mail.
