Is it possible to have john@aaa.com go to a different user than john@bbb.com if aaa.com and bbb.com are hosted with the same Advanced or Power account?

Yes. When you add a new mailbox you will see a drop-down menu with a list of your domain just from the right. You have to choose a domain this mailbox will be corresponded to. In such way you can create separate mail accounts for john@aaa.com and for john@bbb.com.
