Hi. I'd like to host some WAP content that is not available for public viewing and can only be retrieved by a specific WAP gateway. Can someone tell me how that can be done? Thanks very much.
Vanya
WAP uses http so you can use .htaccess for denying an access.

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_access.html
Read there:
Directives
Allow
Deny
Order

You'll need to use Allow,Deny order and to Allow needed WAP gateways.

Hi Vanya. Thanks for the Apache directives.

I have a subdomain on Hostony which I would like to restrict access to such that only a specific WAP gateway will be able to access its contents.

Do you have any suggestions how this can be done? I'm not sure if Hostony allows me to make the changes you mentioned to .htaccess, does it?
Stanly
Sure, you can do them.
Directives at .htaccess file will be applied only for your domain name so you can do this without any hesitations. smile.gif

Thanks Stanley. In that case, how may I make the changes to the .htaccess file? Do I use the SSH/Shell Access on the cPanel since the subdomain is hosted by Hostony?

Also, I would like to log accesses to that particular domain based on the userid information in the http request header. Any suggestions how I can do it?
Stanly
1. You can edit it via SSH, or you can edit it at your local computer and then just upload to the directory at your account.

2. Please go to http://support.hostony.com and submit a ticket there. Display your domain name and what domain name do you need access log for, and I'll help you. wink.gif

Thanks, Stanley. I'll do that as soon as I've confirmed with my counterparts.
