I've been searching here and found someone else who wanted an .asp homepage; reply said put .htaccess file
in public_html dir

I tried putting such an .htaccess file in my root dir and in www dir
Of course I added default.asp to the text there - first one in fact
Doesn't work!
Do I need to make a public_html dir?? Isn't that actually the www dir?

Last time I used .htaccess file was years ago on Unix
Is this also the solution on Windows?

http://www.patpatterson.us/default.asp
Windows server acct
does not load
Page loads if I use default.htm so domain is OK (I've removed that file now though)

Also! If Hostony is interceding here - would you at the same time set my acct patpatterson.us to accept the file extension .shm for SSI please? Pre-purchase you'd said OK but you would have to set it for me. Thanks -

Your default.asp have a problem that is why it gives error 500.

SSI is working with ASP scripts. Here is an example

<!--#INCLUDE FILE="code.asp"-->
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="menu_item.htm"-->

Do you need it to be working with .htm(.html, etc?) files?
