Hi everyone! smile.gif I haven't said anything in a very long time. Sorry. Been very busy. Anyway though, I have a quick question. I play Minecraft on a private server (my desktop) with a friend. It's just the two of us, but I read that its not really best performance to run the server on the same computer you are actually playing the game on, so I was wondering... Would it be possible to run the server part on my server space I get with you guys? Minecraft is pretty small and it's just the two of us playing it. Anyway, let me know. smile.gif Thanks.

Awww, heck, Dima... Now I feel bad! wink.gif

I used to come on here all the time just to chat and such, but things got ugly here at home so I haven't been doing much more than blogging and playing Everquest 2. sad.gif

Been using Hostony now for four or five years.... Quite a long time. And you guys are still the best hosting on the planet. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Lehrer @ Jul 22 2007, 05:23 AM) *
Hi Bonnie!
as always, I've been glad to hear from you tongue.gif
My wife has given birth to a child in May, so we've got a two-month-old boy now tongue.gif
So I sleep errr.... a bit less than usual now laugh.gif and have less free time of course.
Anyways, this is great experience, a great feeling of being responsible for someone, of being a parent.

Oh wow!!! Congratulations Lehrer!!! That is wonderful!

My oldest just turned seventeen in May... Kids grow up so fast! They just don't stay babies long enough! laugh.gif

Oh well, nothing much really. Just playing wasting time mostly. Funny how I completely lost all my creativity the minute I started playing games! I swear! I signed up for Real Arcade and starting playing those dumb puzzle games all the time and then Myst Online: Uru Live was resurrected by Gametap and I got a subscription so I could be a part of that and now it seems like when I'm on the computer I'm always playing games!

In real life though all is well. You guys remember me endlessly talking about my autistic son, Max, right? Well, we have a caretaker who helps with him for four hours a day now. (Monday through Friday) It's such a relief! Frees me up to play more - er... games...
laugh.gif Just kidding! biggrin.gif Actually, I've been walking while he's with his caretaker and taking pictures and stuff. You know, we've been living on the beach since 1999 and I think I had only been actually on the beach once a year until I started walking. Crazy. You get so used to things...

What have you been doing these days?

Hi Guys!

Yeah, my mother-in-law passed away suddenly and my step-dad just found out he has a very fast spreading cancer and he's going through chemo and radiation therapy and wow, it's just been crazy over here. We had to lower the price on our house so we can sell and move closer to my father-in-law because we are his only living family. And you guys know my youngest son is disabled so this is especially difficult with him. We'll have to move all of his current services to another state and it's just a nightmare getting everything arranged. We're just waiting for our house to sell now so there's nothing else to do at the moment and I can finally get back to my regular life for a little while.

Anyway, darn! I hoped you guys would know about this embedding fonts thing....
I'm getting in over my head on this I think. laugh.gif

I feel like I'm riding an ocean wave at the moment on a leaking life raft, but here I am!!!!! laugh.gif

I have a question about embedding fonts in CSS and I thought why not ask here where there are many knowledgeable and nice folks who know so much more than I do about this stuff! (Forgive me if I've asked this before.... I'm a bit forgetful right now...) So, how do I embed a font in CSS? I've found sites that talk about it but then I've found other sites that contradict those sites. I am too confused and need a step by step explanation. Also, I need to know how and where to get software to convert the font I need to use to the right format. (And which is the right format?) I understand there are free tools for this, but I haven't been able to find them. (At least not FREE tools, anyway....)

Any help is appreciated! smile.gif

Hi Dima!!!!

It's okay now! I got a response to my ticket and they said there was "high load average on the server as one of the customers was downloading something maliciously." So I waited it out and now everything seems to be working. It was really weird. I was only having trouble here on the forum, the support ticket site, my own two domains, and cPanel, but everywhere else on the internet I went to was working just fine. Even my Dad's site was working fine and it's on a Hostony server too. I guess it could have been something in my machine but I have no idea what... I restarted my system four times thinking the problem was on my end and I kept getting the same results. Anyway though, everything is fine now.

Thanks!!!! smile.gif

Hi everyone.... I haven't been around for a while because there's been a death in the family and another is going through chemotherapy and radiation treatment for cancer and now we have to move to another state to help out a family member, etc etc. So it's been quite a mess and I'm just getting back to working on my site and my Dad's sites and I'm having trouble with cPanel, ticket support, and this forum, not to mention my own website! Everything keep timing out! I finally got the support ticket thing to work after many tries, and I finally got the forum to work obviously, but my site is still being difficult and cPanel won't do anything! All other sites work just fine. Anyone else having this trouble? Or, is it just my website getting back at me for being gone so long? laugh.gif

I just wanted to say....without going into alot of boring detail, that you guys here at Hostony are the best support staff I deal with anywhere. I've been trying to get help at two different music sites the last week and getting no replies to my questions! If I had to deal with support like that everywhere I would probably never get online again. laugh.gif

Thanks always for your great service... biggrin.gif

Hey! I noticed that "dating.ru" thing but I didn't know what it was. I visited this forum a day or so ago and it got stuck or something in my Firefox and what kept spinning was "dating.ru". blink.gif

Ha! I got it! laugh.gif

body

text-align:center;
margin: auto;

#container

margin-left:auto;
margin-right:auto;
text-align:left;

Now it should look the same everywhere. (I hope. laugh.gif )

QUOTE
You can center it in CSS with

margin:auto;

I did that at first and it looked great in Firefox but it didn't work in IE for some reason so I decided to skip it and leave it in the corner. I could have taken the time to figure it out but I'm not really happy with the background graphic yet so I knew I was gonna have to change it anyway. Is there a fix in IE for centering or should "margin: auto;" have worked?

Okay... I did the conversion by hand and frankly it only took me about a half hour. I don't know why in the world I thought it would be easier to use tables. tongue.gif

Here's the results:

Old version with Tables:
http://orphicendeavors.com/indextables.html

New version using CSS:
http://orphicendeavors.com/

I actually got it to look better in CSS. (I haven't redone the music page yet because I want to completely change it.)

Anyway, I learned something out of this experience, so it wasn't a complete loss of time. wink.gif
I learned you can't cut corners and save time by going backwards. laugh.gif

Hello! laugh.gif Yes. Usually I use CSS, but this time I used tables. Dumb, I know... tongue.gif But what I was hoping was that someone knows of an easy way to change tables to CSS.... What I'm finding out after hours of searching Google is that I am stuck building the CSS instead. I'd rather use a separate CSS template anyway.

What did I learn for this experience? There are no shortcuts!!!! Do it right the first time! That's my lesson for today for myself. laugh.gif

I guess it's a good thing I love making webpages.

I wanted to rebuild my band site because I was tired of the old one. Instead of going more elaborate like I usually would, I wanted to take a retro simplistic (for me) approach so I decided I would use a few tables. Html tables. It seemed like an easy idea at the time. I would slap a few tables together and have a new cleaner version of the site up in a few minutes. And really, in Firefox it worked. It was up in a matter of maybe 30 minutes. Then I checked it in IE. Oops. I forgot about all the problems with IE and tables and it's not seeing height and so forth and having to put in spacers, and the centering the entire table issue.... I ended up nesting several tables to get it to work right and honestly I ended up wasting several hours on the blasted thing. Now, of course, I hate it and I don't want to build any more of it because I'll have the same issues I did on the first two pages on every page, so, I changed my mind and I want to go back and redo it in friendly CSS the way I should have done in the first place. SO, after that long winded explanation, I have a question! Do any of you guys know of anything that will easily convert html tables into CSS? Yes.... I can go in and do it by hand but, I just spent all that work on it so I was hoping for an easy way out. I'm betting there probably isn't one though.... laugh.gif
