You guys don't plan to updgrade PHP 4.1 to PHP 5, right? Personally, I'm pretty comfortable with PHP 4.1 and I don't see the need to upgrade it yet. Besides, I heard that PHP 5 is pretty unstable, unless I recieved false information.

I wouldn't want Hostony to upgrade it. But that's just me.

I've been with hostony for about more than 2 years now... I think. I lost count. Either way, I've only been disappointed with their service once, but was quickly fixed. In my personal experience, Hostony started out rough. However, in due time, every thing was running smoothly.

Like others stated before, Hostony does have great support. You just gotta be patient.

There has been many times in which I wanted to move from one host to another even if the other host was alittle more expensive. But in my case there has only been one major problem, however, I later realized it was my fault.

There are times, though, that hostony won't answer your questions directly and it just gives the customer a suspicious feeling that you're hiding something. That makes the customer insecure of the business and may decide to leave. Hostony, you're not making your customers feel secure of your services and I certainly do not blame most of your customers for leaving. I've been with you guys for more or less, what? 3 years? I, in my part, appreciate that you want to keep us safe and secure from hackers, but at least explain to us in our trouble tickets (or whatever other way people contact you for support) what went wrong. We feel as if you dont have time for us when you just say "Your site is up". We end up with a question mark over our heads wanting to know what happend.

It's only childish of you to leave and come back insulting them. Show's how immature some people can be.

I posted a trouble ticket and I did get a response saying it'll be active in 3 days and she/he gave me a password. But, what's the password for? I asked, but never got a response again.

If I'm correct, you had the problem with having too many connections, right?

If you did, I had the same problem, but it's fixed now. Both our sites work just fine. Could be that someone is over using the Database.

Before I backup my forums, I always turn off my forums. To keep new info from coming in. Probably that's their reason? o.O?

If you want better quality, go for a dedicated server, not a shared server. Because someone is seriously taking on the database. I'm having a problem with the database saying it has too many connections.

My site is www.chaossanctum.com.

Works fine for me. Might be your cache or something. Happend to me before when I moved from one server to another. Your site will be fine.

I agree, though, about that lack of communication. On the other hand, that maybe my problem. X_x

My first host almost made me lose faith on all online businesses. I didn't want to trust anyone. Then I ran into hostony, and kept admiring their prices. Yeap... I remember back in the day, 9.95 for...what was it? 300 megs? and 15 gig bandwidth? Now, same price, more space and bandwidth. Despite all the problems I've been through in hostony, they're the only ones that didn't ignore my questions.

QUOTE
When I first started using Hostony, the website was up and down and up and down for the first month. Then like magic, everything has been fairly smooth for closing in on two years. And I've had several accounts, different servers. For a web presence with lots of space, bandwidth, and package extras, it probably is the best deal on the web, PERIOD.

Funny, same thing happend to me. Only problems I get is when I believe it's rebooting and the database going hay-wire saying "too many connections". But it gets fixed quick.

There's another site I saw with more space and bandwidth at a lesser price... but.. I can't leave hostony... In fact, I plan to make another site with hostony pretty soon. biggrin.gif

EDIT: And stop being rebellious Dark! XD

I'm going to try that trouble ticket system a chance again. Also, should I link them to this thread so they can have a better idea of what I'm talking about? >_>;

ojenni hit it on the mark! I registered the domain name chaossanctum.com here on hostony. I clicked on the little link where I pay for a domain name. Then they sent me a link with username and password to control the DNS.

I don't get how I wasn't being specific enough after typing 2-3 paragraphs. =/

QUOTE(Dark Hedgehog @ Jan 10 2005, 06:15 AM)
Well, here's my solution.

Hostony, send another email to his specified email if he ever gets to it.
*

That's what I've been asking!! But they keep giving me the CPanel to my site. But I wanted it sent to redblaze.hedgehog@gmail.com.

Many times I asked for the same thing. I bougth chaossanctum.com here. NOT the service, the Domain Name. When I bought the domain name, they sent me an email to redblaze@thesonicjoint.com. "thesonicjoint.com" was the domain name I used to use before chaossanctum.com.

thesonicjoint.com = from Godaddy.com
chaossanctum.com = from Hostony

Since thesonicjoint.com doesn't work anymore, all the emails were gone. Thus, losing the link, user login, and password to controling the domain name chaossanctum.com.

Now here's my problem, I emailed hostony@hostony.com. I emailed support@hostony.com, but both keep giving me the CPanel link to my site. I DON'T WANT THAT!

I give up with this little problem. I can still access my site anyway. Forget I asked anything. So far, this is the first unresolved problem I've had with Hostony. I'm hoping it's the last.

1) The ticket system is buggy, I've already tried using it.
2) I've tried sending emails to support@hostony.com and hostony@hostony.com and they're giving me details on how to get into my CPanel.

I KNOW THE WAY TO THE CPANEL!! When I bought the URL chaossanctum.com from you guys, you sent me an email on controlling the URL. Rather I'm not explaining myself right to you guys, or you guys are just being slacky! >=/
