Hey!!! they killed our downtime thread. What a show! That was the best soap going on the internet! With great stars like perry keitro, a prosecution lawyer who tells it like it is, Dr. hedhog who is always practicing surgury without a medical lisence, uncle sysadmin who is realy a used car salesman, will sell you a Toyota but try to convince you it is a caddillac, Bob jukeyard who bought a toyocaddy from uncle sys then crashed while driveing off a cliff now in the hospital and hoping dr hedhog will not do the surgery, Ahh yes that show had it all, drama, suspence, action and thrills. I'll miss that show. sad.gif

lmao. I'm surprised this thread wasn't deleted. As a matter of fact, Alec, after banning me like I requested ( ) seemed to have sat there and read this thread for a good 30 minutes. Then Alexandre came on and read it a bit too. As I said I'm shocked that they didn't delete it, (or my username, or the millions of trolled usernames) Perhaps they are actually understanding that I'm not kidding now and they want to fix these problems? Maybe......

QUOTE(Dark Hedgehog @ Aug 22 2004, 12:17 AM)
QUOTE(keitaro @ Aug 21 2004, 11:54 PM)
While we are exposing truth, lets add some more!!

http://www.sonicdash.net/mainl.php?page=/etc/passwd

Over 200 users on one server.  Think about this. Hostony's minimum package is 1gb disk space. We all know hostony uses low capacity disks.. (because its the cheapest server they can get.. cheaper server + more clients = more profit)

http://www.sonicdash.net/mainl.php?page=/proc/scsi/scsi

This page tells you that they are using a Fujitsu MAP3735NP SCSI Hard Drive.

http://www.google.com/search?q=MAP3735NP&s...=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Google will show you that it is a 73gb Hard Drive.

Okay tell me how 200 people with at LEAST 1gb space alloicated to them will fit on a 73gb hard drive PLUS the server software?

Lets now take a look at RAM....

http://www.sonicdash.net/mainl.php?page=/proc/meminfo

At the time of this post it said:
QUOTE(meminfo)
MemTotal: 2061576 kB
MemFree: 38528 kB
SwapTotal: 2048276 kB
SwapFree: 1745568 kB

Look at that. 38mb Psy RAM free, about 300mb RAM swap in use. This is why your site lags people. Because they cram servers. And what is Swap? It is memory on the hard drive. With over 200 users and 300mb swap, this hard drive is working and working and working, and will die eventually just like a recent event we seen.

Come on, I am giving you all the proof you need. Hostony doesn't care about you, they care about your cash. 200 users on a $200 server means at LEAST $1800 for them.. $1600 profit per server. They don't care if you can't access all your space. "Shut up sit down and do what you are told." Its pathetic. A real host would never port more than 50 clients onto one server.

So there you have it, what more proof do you want? What can you say now trolls? I proved everything. Read this while you can, because Hostony will delete this quicker than you can say "new host".

Dude, if you are a fan of my site, that's okay.

But here's a tip:
"GET A LIFE"

You are sitting here moaning, groaning, flaming and crap when others are enjoying this service and CARING LESS about stuff like this, at least I am.

Just leave everyone alone, maybe if you'd leave like you have said quite a few times, I bet this place would return normal.

Noone wants to hear you crying.
Either get out or stay in, noone wants to hear you bicker and complain.

If this place overloads and crap, SO WHAT?
Noone gives a darn.

Why not find a better host than this place? I bet it would do you good.
Now either get out or stay and be nice to other people.

We don't need people like you complaining for nothing.

Actually I'm not a fan of your fusion site. I could make a better site with my eyes closed, its just that you have the most exploits. Could have deleted you with another exploit but I didn't.

As for caring less, of course you couldn't care less, because you are a ass kissing brain dead ####@@ who doesn't know what any of this means, so yeah. But for REAL people looking for a REAL host to run a REAL BUSINESS on, these technical terms mean alot, and will turn away ALOT of new customers.

If it overloads? No one cares? No one cares if it goes down like it just did? hmm thats why there are 21 pages in that thread.. i didnt do all of them......

As for being nice I was being DAMN nice to EVERYONE here until three particular ###### piss me off. You being one. I am still nice to anyone else who doesn't flame me for telling AND PROVING the truth.

as for your IQ being less than the number of fingers you still have left on your hand after being caught in the cookie jar all the time............ I ALREADY HAVE ANOTHER HOST I AM HERE BECAUSE THEY STILL DIDNT CANCEL ME. I said this how many ####@@ing times? learn to read before flaming maybe you wont look like such an ass.

Complaining for nothing.. thats a concept.. funny how 10-15 people in other 48 hours didnt think it was for nothing. If you had a ####@@ing brain you'd know what the hell the shit I posted meant and maybe you'd ####@@ing realize I was right... Now get off the net so mommy can use the phone and finish studing those 6 letter words for your spelling test ok? We dont want to fall now.

They are not perfect, but, but, they offer very good hosting plan at a very low price. And since I have my account, I had no problem, a fast support and my website is also fast. Maybe they are lying about lot of stuff but.. I have no problems with my hosting and a good service!

What can I ask more?

Only, please only stop lying to your clients.

AND PLEASE, do not close this thread, it would be stupid wacko.gif

Oh they'll delete it. They hate having the truth exposed. Why would they want to do business right? Its much more profitable to continue the way they are, I mean, wish ass kissers like Danimal, Dark Hedgehog, and tass4243, they can lie all they want and people will still pay the bill. There are more like the three listed above, and those three, and the others are just encouraging Hostony's lies.

Now, if on the other hand, everyone left for another host, even if it was only for a month or two, Hostony might get a clue. not likely but *shrug*. Not that the ass kissers will anyway. They one stop kissing ass until Hostony decides they made enough money and leaves everyone in the dark, and there is no ass to kiss anymore.

You must know what truth is because you delete it everytime you see it.

You deleted the post where I exposed you for lying on your website about your datacenter being state of the art in Alanta when its really a piece of CRAP because its owned by Everyone's Internet (######servers.net) in Houston TX.

Honestly Hostony.... Please tell me how far you expect to go in this business by lying to everyone and covering up (deleting) the truth? Really? How far will you go?

Sure you can delete my posts. You can even ban me from the forum. Of course I am the master of ban evasion so you can't get rid of me that easy, but even so there are other, more widely used places on the internet. Why lie? What do you gain?

Okay, just wait for their response on your ticket, not that hard to do.

And haven't you yet realized I am not a Hostony worker?
I am just giving you basic information which you aren't even listening to.

Try reading it over a few times.

And thanks, I forgive you being rude, though I don't see how you were, but okay.

i do understand what you are saying. I'm just saying that I been screwed over so much that I just unfairly jumped to conclusions. Hostony is my eh.. I cant even remember how many now.. I think my 11th host in the past 12 months. All the others screwed me over the same way. Server goes down, no notice, no responces to tickets.. It was just instinct, and the apology was to Hostony.

Like I said, now that I know what is going on, I am no longer upset over it and can be patient because I know restoring an entire server isn't an easy task, having done so myself quite a few times.

oh. i see now. now there is a redhat test page.. so appearently they reinstalled the entire OS on the server and cleared everyone, without warning. Communication is what keeps a company in business, but Hostony seems to lack this. I want my money refunded back into the credit card on file, and my account canceled, else a chargeback will be issued.

Oh my God. Calm down! They're compensating everyone for free, they care! Be grateful.

where do you see this?

edit: nm i see it.. it still would have been nice to have an email notification... i moved my discussion into the annoucement thread. I apologize to hostony for being so rash but I didnt think to search for the ip I know it as server24 so like I said if they could email us stuff like this it would be less aggervating.

This is coming from someone who said they were looking for another host?

Just wait for Hostony to asnwer, maybe they are already fixing things as we speak.

well you see, you would have too. because they didnt tell me why in the support ticket. the ticket is STILL open with over 20 hours since last activity. and i didnt see the forum post about it. So you probably would have assumed the same thing. I asked them why the database got corrupted and if there would be compensation. The ticket is still unanswered. all they had to do is reply saying there was a major disk error, and I wouldn't have posted like this. But with no responce, and comparing to other hosts i dealt with, I felt screwed again.

Are you just crying over spilt milk?
I have NO control over the tickets, and you are just telling me something I am not capable of.

Not only that but you need patience.
Cool down, your problems will be solved over-time.

Not like Hostony has a million hands.

i did cool down once i seen the post about why it was down. you just arent understanding what im getting at. Before i seen the post i had no reply to the ticket. like i said if they just said in the ticket "we are having hard drive troubles" then i wouldnt have gotten mad. But being screwed over in the past when they didnt reply i just figured "ok they dont want to tell me whats going on.. this is just like ******** ****" .. I apologized for my behavor. this discussion is over.

Isnt the downtime gaurentee 99% here?

That means..

30 days in a month...
24 hours in a day...
60 minutes in a hour...

30 * 24 * 60 = 43200 minutes in a month
99% of this is 42768.

43200-42768 = 432 minutes
they are allowed 432 minutes.. or 7.5 hours (432 / 60 = 7.5).

My site has been down over 15 hours straight.. So what do I get huh? What does this gaurentee give me? I'm already looking for another host and will be moving when I find one, because not only the downtime ticks me off, but the fact that they managed to corrupt my MYSQL databases and had to restore all my forums to a 24+ hour old backup.. and refuse to tell me why they corrupted or offer compenstation (that ticket is still open Hostony) so yeah, i thought this was a good host but I guess I was wrong. I must apologize to brikface because he was right the whole time.

If you are already looking, why even bother saying about that?

Just send a support ticker or ask for an account cancellation, not that hard.

And in addition, we know how long it takes a day to go.
We don't need math equasions to figure something this simple out.
And ask support before you go blaming Hostony, not only them, but the staff who try to reply to every topic made on this forum.

And if Hostony is so bad, why are you still here?

depends on how this goes.. everyone deserves a chance.. i made that calculation before knowing why, and i made it because, if they didnt have a good reason, or compensate, then it would have led toa money back garentee.

figured it out. there is a misconfiguration of curl which causes an error when you go to load an SSL url.

CODE
curl: (60) error setting certificate verify locations

More details here: http://curl.haxx.se/docs/sslcerts.html

curl performs SSL certificate verification by default, using a "bundle"
of Certificate Authority (CA) public keys (CA certs). The default
bundle is named curl-ca-bundle.crt; you can specify an alternate file
using the --cacert option.
If this HTTPS server uses a certificate signed by a CA represented in
the bundle, the certificate verification probably failed due to a
problem with the certificate (it might be expired, or the name might
not match the domain name in the URL).
If you'd like to turn off curl's verification of the certificate, use
the -k (or --insecure) option.

This is fixed by having gotmail send the said -k command. Thx for all your help it works now.

gotmail is run from my squirrelmail at www.zefie.com/mail/ .. gotmail makes a http connection to the hotmail servers, it then needs to make a http ssl connection to login then will go back to http to download the emails. the emails are then forwarded via sendmail to the defined address (in this case, keitaro@zefie.com) where they would land in my imap account set up on my Hostony hosting.

I think this is what you meant if not then I'm sorry.

the login is fine, it doesnt have an error message it just seems to "stop working" once it hits an SSL URL..

It says there are no messages but there are. Also notice the retrying.. I cant get toto display any detailed error so the only thing i can assume is its a problem with SSL in curl, since it works fine til the SSL url comes.

Wrong yet again, Katie. Ok? The text is another company's and shouldn't be up there. It's no big crime, but it doesn't look good. And if Hostony wants to say they participate in this "Intelligent Path Network", fine. But don't go saying "Our Intelligent Path Network"... What is it, Kate? You think they're gonna give you a free upgrade or sumthin if you keep licking their boots?

Why don't you google for the phrase "Our Intelligent Path Network". and go whine to those companies then. Yeah thats what I thought.

And where the #### do you get "Katie" from a Japanese Anime character name, or are you too dumb to notice that it's a Japanese name?

I agree with you Danimal, he's just a waste of time and this will be my last reply to satisfy his hunger for flame. Sorry brikky, looks like you'll starve til ya start another useless thread.

(psst Danimal i bet if we asked him wut company he works for he wont respond or will say "its none of your business" because he knows either 1) he doesnt work for squat 2) his boss would fire his immature ### if he seen this thread)

Ok guys. Please don't enter in flame war finally. It's just a waste of time, though constructive discussions are always a source of thoughts and encourage for improvements. Let's not cross the barrier and get only the best possible from this thread.

brikface seems to be throwing most the poo at the wall so perhaps just ban him? heh.

oh whoopie doo. you should post at webhosttalk coz they will just laugh you in your face the the idiot you are. because they know more than you do. like the fact that most DS/VDS companies that allow resellers require the reseller to charge more, so that they are not competiting with them. Think of this. You run a server. You charge $20 for a plan. You allow resellers to sell this same plan for $10. If people know this bond, who are they gonna choose. You or the dude who is using you but is cheaper. Its only logic. Hostony charges more, but not by choice. Go ahead, get smacked in the face as WHT. I wanna join in and watch smile.gif (ntm give free advertising to Hostony's kick ass shared plans).
